Hey everybody, welcome back to another episode of Pathmonk Presents. Today we’ve got Pranav Jain, Growth Marketing Manager at Wati.io. Pranav, how are you doing today?
Pranav Jain: Kevin, thanks for hosting me. It’s really been a pleasure.
Kevin: Of course. Let’s start with the basics—what is Wati.io and what are you guys up to?
Pranav Jain: Wati is a conversational engagement platform built on top of the WhatsApp API.
To understand that, you first need to know that WhatsApp has three layers: personal use, WhatsApp Business, and WhatsApp API. The API is designed for growing businesses—it allows automation, CRM integrations, shared inboxes, and much more.
Wati acts as an official Meta partner that provides access to this API, along with a full platform—analytics dashboards, automation workflows, and communication tools.
Kevin: That makes sense—especially with how widely used WhatsApp is globally.
What kind of companies benefit most from this?
Pranav Jain: Almost any industry can use it, depending on the use case.
For example:
- Marketing: broadcasting offers, catalogs, and enabling direct purchases.
- Sales (B2B): capturing leads from ads and managing conversations like a CRM.
- Customer support: handling queries in a faster, more personal way compared to email.
WhatsApp has significantly higher engagement rates than email or SMS, which makes it very powerful.
Kevin: The customer support use case really stands out.
Pranav Jain: Exactly. It feels more personal and immediate. Customers prefer it over email, and it’s more efficient than phone support.
Kevin: Let’s talk about how customers find you. What are your main acquisition channels?
Pranav Jain: We experiment with multiple channels—LinkedIn, social media, and Google.
But our primary driver is search-based ads. People don’t search for “WhatsApp API”—they search for things like “automate WhatsApp” or “send WhatsApp campaigns.”
We also invest in awareness campaigns to educate the market about what the API is.
Kevin: And once they land on your website—how do you convert them?
Pranav Jain: We give users two main options:
- Free trial to explore the platform directly
- Book a demo to understand if it fits their business
Our landing pages are designed to educate first—what the API is, how it helps, and how it applies to marketing, sales, or support.
Reducing friction is key.
Kevin: Makes sense. Now from your perspective—what makes a great converting website?
Pranav Jain: The first fold is critical. It must match the user’s expectation from the ad or search.
Also:
- Use container jumpers for easy navigation across sections
- Include videos to explain complex products
- Add testimonials and case studies
From a tools perspective:
- GA4 for analytics
- Microsoft Clarity for heatmaps and behavioral insights
Clarity alone has helped us improve conversion rates significantly.
Kevin: That’s very actionable. What does your day-to-day look like?
Pranav Jain: I start by analyzing data daily and aligning with the team.
Then it’s a mix of:
- Strategy discussions
- Positioning new features
- Expanding into new geographies
- Monitoring performance
It’s very data-driven and collaborative.
Kevin: How do you stay up to date?
Pranav Jain: I rely on:
- Newsletters (like Optimizer, PPC Hero)
- Platform updates (Google Ads, Meta)
- Reddit communities, which are highly underrated
Reddit has practical, real-world insights from people solving similar problems.
Kevin: I agree—Reddit is massively underrated.
Let’s do a quick rapid-fire.
Last book you read?
Pranav Jain: The Palace of Illusions by Chitra Banerjee. It offers a unique perspective and really changed how I think.
Kevin: If you had a magic wand—what would you fix?
Pranav Jain: Attribution. Understanding exactly which channel contributed at each stage.
Kevin: One task you’d automate?
Pranav Jain: Data hygiene and workflow monitoring.
Kevin: And one piece of advice to your past self?
Pranav Jain: Stay curious. Marketing isn’t structured like code—it’s about testing assumptions, learning, and iterating constantly.
Kevin: Great advice. Where can people find you?
Pranav Jain: Just search Wati.io on Google. You can sign up for a free trial or book a demo.
Kevin: Amazing. Thanks for joining us, Pranav.
