Let’s talk about today’s guest. We have Kyle from Munn Enterprises, marketing sales representative with them. How are you doing today, Kyle?

Kyle Graves: Doing good, man. How are you doing today?

Ernesto: I’m doing great. Thank you so much for asking, Kyle. And, well, Kyle, I’m sure our listeners are tuning in, wondering what Munn Enterprises is all about. So in your own words, tell us a little bit more.

Kyle: So I kind of had a hard time narrowing this one down. In broad strokes, we manufacture and install any type of physical advertising. That’s anything from billboards to channel letters, video boards—multiple things. As long as it’s physical advertising, that’s what we get our hands into.

Ernesto: Okay, awesome. So that our listeners can get a good understanding of Munn Enterprises, what would you say is the key problem that you guys like to solve for clients?

Kyle: Typically, clients come to us either as a new business or a pre-existing business. New businesses are looking for their first bit of physical advertising, like a sign. They don’t have any signage yet, so we help them. It helps with traffic flow. You know, when you’re out driving, trying to find something to eat, you’ll probably pass a company without a sign because you don’t know what they’re about. We amplify that brand’s face and make it more visible.

Ernesto: Okay, interesting. So is there a certain vertical segment or ICP that you guys focus on?

Kyle: Our top clients are primarily in petroleum and gas stations. We also do a lot of retail, food companies, and recently a lot of athletic projects for schools, whether that’s college or high school. But the top two would probably be petroleum and athletics.

Ernesto: Definitely. Okay, perfect. So, how would someone in the petroleum or athletics business usually find out about Munn Enterprises? Is there a top client acquisition channel for you?

Kyle: Since I started at Munn Enterprises, we’ve tried different strategies. At first, it was mainly referral and word of mouth because Munn is one of the most prominent sign shops in the region. But we’ve really ramped up our social media over the past seven months, trying to get positive reviews to boost SEO. We’re making it more accessible for people like me, who didn’t know much about the manufacturing industry, by breaking down buzzwords and making it easier to understand.

Ernesto: Okay, awesome. Great to hear that. So that way, our listeners who are tuned in can go ahead and visit Munn Enterprises. They can always check you out at munnenterprises.com. What role does the website play in client acquisition?

Kyle: We’re currently building a new website to optimize what we already have. It’s supposed to be like an encyclopedia of everything we do. The manufacturing world is vast, and a lot of people don’t know if they need an awning or something else. Our website will make it easy for users to navigate and find exactly what they need for physical advertising.

Ernesto: Interesting. So, do you have any tools, tips, or methods you would recommend to our listeners for website lead generation?

Kyle: Simplicity is key. In 2024, with the rise of TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts, if we don’t find what we’re looking for in the first few seconds, we move on. We’re making sure our website and landing page are sleek, easy to navigate, and clear. If you’re looking for something, it should be right there, just a click away.

Ernesto: Interesting take. Let’s switch gears a little bit and talk about you as a leader, as the marketing sales representative for Munn Enterprises. What are some key tasks you focus on in your day-to-day work?

Kyle: When I joined, we didn’t have a ton of content, so I took the reins on creating social media content. My goal is to showcase the jobs we’ve done and inform users about what we do in the shop—taking them from point A (manufacturing the sign) to point B (installing the sign). My tasks include creating content, editing, and circling back with customers to gather testimonials, learn what we did right or wrong, and act as the middleman between Munn Enterprises and every customer.

Ernesto: Awesome. Great to hear that. So how do you stay up to date with marketing news, trends, and strategies? Do you have a preferred channel?

Kyle: Before starting at Munn Enterprises, I got introduced to HubSpot, and it’s helped me a lot as someone fresh out of college. But once I found Pathmonk, I started digging into what you guys are doing, and I think I’ll be hitting it 50/50 between HubSpot and Pathmonk. I love that you keep everyone up to date with what’s happening in the marketing world.

Ernesto: Appreciate that shout-out, Kyle! Let’s jump into our next section: rapid-fire questions. Are you ready?

Kyle: Let’s see. I hope so!

Ernesto: First up, what is the last book you read?

Kyle: All the way through, it would be Dune. But right now, I’m reading How to Lead.

Ernesto: Nice. If there were no boundaries in technology, what’s the one thing you’d want to fix for your role as a marketer?

Kyle: Honestly? A portable, high-speed server. Something I could take around wherever I go to stay connected with my team and move files easily.

Ernesto: Interesting! Next, if there’s one repetitive task you could automate, what would that be?

Kyle: When I’m creating content, I wish I could take a picture or video, and boom—it immediately syncs to my computer. I wish it could also automatically sort the bad ones and give me the top five best shots. But that’s a perfect world, right?

Ernesto: Haha, yeah, but you never know with the way technology is advancing. Lastly, Kyle, you’re early in your marketing journey, but what’s one thing you’d recommend to yourself if you were to restart?

Kyle: I’d tell myself not to try and reinvent the wheel. I’ve been given amazing tools, especially with the internet and social media. Instead of reinventing, just modernize and keep the wheel spinning.

Ernesto: Great advice! Well, we’re coming to the end of the show, but before we go, I want to give you the last word. If someone forgets everything from today’s interview, what’s the one thing they should remember about Munn Enterprises?

Kyle: No matter what kind of company you are, we want to take your brand, amplify it, and make it stand out above the crowd. That’s what we’re here for.

Ernesto: Love it! Listeners, you can check them out at munnenterprises.com. Kyle, thank you so much for being with us today, and to our listeners, thank you for tuning in. Looking forward to our next episode on Pathmonk Presents.

Kyle: Thank you!
