Let’s talk about today’s guest. We have Mychelle from Knak, CMO with them. How are you doing today, Mychelle?

Mychelle Mollot: Hi, I’m doing great. How are you?

Ernesto: I’m doing great. We were talking a little bit before—it’s Friday already, almost about to head out for the weekend. Looking forward to today’s episode, and I’m sure our listeners are tuning in wondering what Knak is all about. So, let’s start off with that. Mychelle, in your own words, can you tell us what Knak is all about?

Mychelle: Yeah, look, Knak is a no-code email and landing page builder. It’s a pretty simple concept, but it’s tackling a very complex problem.

Ernesto: Definitely. Let’s talk about that so our listeners can get a good understanding of Knak. What problems do you solve for clients?

Mychelle: Yeah, look, right now, most companies are using marketing automation platforms like Marketo, Pardot, or Eloqua. These platforms are so powerful, but they’re also complex and require a little—or sometimes a lot—of coding knowledge. So, what most companies have done is lock them down, meaning they have a small group of people, like email developers or marketing operations teams, that build everything for everyone in marketing. This creates a bottleneck almost immediately.

They’re not the creators of the emails; they’re the coders. When you need a change, you have to go back to them, and it creates an endless cycle of iteration. Some of our clients went from six weeks to get an email built—let alone tested and approved—down to hours, and in some cases, minutes. So, that’s what we do: we take that problem and complexity away and create an environment where the people who actually need the email can build it themselves, or a central team can do it much faster.

Ernesto: That’s awesome to hear. I think anyone doing outreach or outbound marketing definitely struggles with that. Great stuff you’re doing at Knak. So, who would you say is your ideal customer? Is there a vertical segment Knak focuses on?

Mychelle: We’re really horizontal, serving customers across many verticals. But we tend to be used more by companies where email is central to their business. We have a lot of tech, pharma, and banking clients, but also secondary institutions like educational organizations and manufacturers.

Our main focus is on enterprises. While we have smaller businesses using Knak, we design our tool to be robust enough for large clients. For example, companies like Google, Meta, and Amazon rely on us for sophisticated capabilities.

Ernesto: That’s awesome. So, how does someone typically find Knak? What’s your top client acquisition channel?

Mychelle: I’d say it’s about a third inbound from LinkedIn and retargeting, a third from robust SEO and PPC, and a third from trade shows like Adobe Summit. Since this isn’t a well-known category yet, people are usually searching for solutions to their problem rather than directly for us. All these channels work together to bring in leads.

Ernesto: Great stuff! For our listeners, you can check them out at heyknak.com. What role would you say the website plays in client acquisition?

Mychelle: The website is foundational—it’s where everything lands, whether from a trade show, LinkedIn, PPC, or SEO. It’s the hub for all our efforts.

Ernesto: Is there any advice or tips you’d recommend for creating a great, high-converting website?

Mychelle: First and foremost, speak plainly. Avoid jargon and marketing speak. Your site needs to communicate what you do in simple, clear terms. It also needs to guide visitors down a path of discovery—a well-structured funnel that makes the journey seamless.

Ernesto: Totally agree. Let’s switch gears a bit. Mychelle, as CMO, what are some key tasks you focus on daily?

Mychelle: My day is split into three parts: executing on current strategies, analyzing performance, and planning for the future. Every day involves some combination of these—helping the team, monitoring progress, and adapting tactics based on results.

Ernesto: Definitely some big responsibilities. Let’s jump into our next section: rapid-fire questions. Are you ready?

Mychelle: You got it.

Ernesto: Awesome. First, what’s the last book you read?

Mychelle: The last business book I read was The Hard Thing About Hard Things by Ben Horowitz. The last non-business book was Outlive by Peter Attia.

Ernesto: Great reads. What’s one thing Knak is focused on the most right now?

Mychelle: Delighting our customers. We want to make everything no-code and ensure marketers can focus on being creative, not bogged down by mechanics.

Ernesto: If there were no boundaries in technology, what’s one thing you’d want fixed for your role as a marketer?

Mychelle: Having all the answers to my questions at my fingertips—instant, actionable insights without the wait.

Ernesto: Agreed. If there’s one repetitive task you could automate, what would it be?

Mychelle: Planning tasks. Creating spreadsheets and frameworks repeatedly takes so much time.

Ernesto: Lastly, what’s one piece of advice you’d give your younger self starting as a marketer?

Mychelle: I’d say, always make time for yourself—your health and fitness. I probably sacrificed too much for work early on. Balance is key.

Ernesto: Great advice. Thanks for being on the show, Mychelle. If someone forgets everything from today, what’s the one thing they should remember about Knak?

Mychelle: Knak makes email and landing page creation simple, efficient, and painless.

Ernesto: You heard it here! Visit heyknak.com to learn more. Mychelle, thank you for being here, and to our listeners, thanks for tuning in. See you on the next episode of Pathmonk Presents.

Mychelle: Thank you—it was great to chat.
